* As Progressive APC Information Commissioners Converge on Kogi state.
The Kogi state Governor , Alhaji Yahaya Bello has given his administration an excellent marks that he has been able to conquer insecurity, crime and criminality that has hitherto been the trade mark of the state.
Gov. Bello gave the pass marks on Thursday at a meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum Media and Communications Programmes Steering Committee with Commissioners For Information of APC States holding in Lokoja.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Chief Edward Onoja, disclosed that the determination of Gov. Bello to eradicate all forms of criminalities in the State, informed the national and numerous international awards won by the Governor on security, with the recent one being Presented by President Mohammadu Buhari.
The Governor disclosed that his administration was able to achieve the most secured State status through the making of the traditional rulers and all critical stakeholders who are part of the security architecture of the State.
He added that upon assumption of office, education and health was his major priority which informed the establishment of the Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara.
He said, although the state was experiencing financial challenges, his commitment to quality education and health care delivery was the motivation for the early take off of the institution.
The Governor further maintained that his administration did not allow the negative impact of COVID-19 weigh the State down, as he was able to build seven world class health facilities spread across the State.
He asserted that the recently built and equipped Okene reference Hospital has become the best Hospitals in Northern Nigeria.
While justifying the effort of his administration in meeting the health needs of the people, he was able to remodel Specialists Hospital in Lokoja, and many others across the state.
The Governor reminded the people that on his assumption in office in 2016, he did promised to serve in a manner that would break class, religious, ethnic sentiments, insisting that the state is now united as indivisible entity
He promise to utilise state resources to the good of the people, adding that the people now place the interest of the State first before ethnic, tribal, ethnic and class considerations.
According to him , the previous administrations were unfriendly to female gender, youth inclusiveness and people living with disabilities , but expressed satisfaction that the negative narratives have been erased for the good of the state.
He explained that his administration has surpassed 35% women affirmative action in appointment, saying he was upbeat that women have been elected Vice Chairman and Council Leaders in the 21 Local Government Councils in the state.
He assured that the signing of the disability bill into law and the establishment of the disability Commission, he appointed them to run the affairs of the commission.
While urging the Participants to take critical looks into the two prototype bills before them; a bill for social media crimes Law 2022, and Livestock Management Agency for the purpose of Animal Identification, traceability, registration and for other related matters thereto law, said the bill is capable of creating harmonious relationship among the citizenry.
In his remarks, Folorunsho Aluko, Director Planning and Strategy, PGF, Communications Programmes Steering Committee with Commissioners For Information of APC, said the PGF is currently being repositioned and re- envisioned by developing new organisational vision to capture the objectives of setting up the Secretariat
He commended Governor Bello for his infrastructural development spread across the state.
In a remark, the Kogi State Commissioner for information and Communication, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, said the meeting would discuss on the implementation of the legacy documentation and preservation program, aimed at preserving the legacies of the Progressive Governors.
