Stakeholders at the post Open Government Partnership OGP global summit have appealed to kogi state Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo to maintain and sustain the momentum toward inclusive, stronger partnership and transparent governance for the benefits of the citizenry.
This is as the administration has been charged to implement hundred percent of the five thematic areas of the OGP State Action plan.
This was the summation of the stakeholders summit held today in Lokoja, kogi state capital.
While commending Gov. Ododo for his servant leadership and unwavering support for open governance, solicited his continued leadership for the progress of OGP in kogi state .
The stakeholders which comprises State and non-State actors, reflected on the Knowledge gathered, exchange of ideas and commitment to shared mission from the 2025 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit held in the People’s Republic of Spain.
According to the communique issued at the end of the Summit , stakeholders underscored that openness is not a slogan but a concrete set of practices that enhance service delivery, reduce governance gaps, and strengthen trust between government and citizens.
The State and non-State actors agreed that meaningful progress on the SAP requires sustained collaboration, continuous dialogue, and a shared sense of responsibility.
Stakeholders praised Non-State actors for their commitment and sacrifice in supporting the SAP’s design, advocacy, oversight, and implementation even as their efforts have been indispensable to the SAP’s momentum.
The Stakeholders applauded State Government, under the leadership of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, who have shown steadfast readiness to join the elite league of inclusive openness and partnership for transparent governance.
“We affirm that the Global Summit was an eye-opener, revealing practical insights, successful models, and a clear path forward for the implementation of Kogi State’s State Action Plan (SAP). It reinforced the imperative of working with all stakeholders in an inclusive, participatory, and constructive manner that yields tangible results for citizens.
” We underscored that openness is not a slogan but a concrete set of practices that enhance service delivery, reduce governance gaps, and strengthen trust between government and citizens. A culture of accountability, citizen-centered reporting, and transparent decision-making processes must remain at the core of all SAP activities”
While reiterating the efforts of the state government towards success of OGP , called for improvement in the areas of service delivery in the Education sector which is a key metrics of development.
Meanwhile, stakeholders charged Technical Working Groups (TWGs) to organize regular multi-stakeholder forum that includes government agencies, civil society, private sector, media, academia, and development partners to review SAP progress, share learnings, and co-design improvements.
While stressing for enhance Knowledge Sharing mechanism,
Create centralized knowledge repositories and dashboards detailing SAP milestones, performance indicators, and impact stories, called for closing pitfalls that impeded the smooth participation of the state contingents at the global summit.
Stakeholders emphasized the need to consolidate and create awareness on OGP- related wins in the State Actions and outcomes from the State Action Plan to be publicized so that all citizens and stakeholders are aware and able to relate to such achievements.
