NSCDC draws  battle line with criminals, trains intelligent officers in kogi
The Kogi state Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, has assured Citizens of its preparedness to tackle insecurity up to the hard to reach villages to enable farmers produce bumper harvests.
The state commandant CD Aletan Olumide Ebenezer made the disclosure at the closing ceremony of 5 Day Intelligence and Investigation Training for  the personnel of intelligence Department held on Friday, 13 February, 2026 in Lokoja
CD Aletan Ebenezer noted that intelligence gathering is the backbone of any  successful operation , hence, the command’s commitment to building the capacity of officers through training and retraining which has remained sacrosanct.
He said the rate of bandits incursion into the state , needs strategic tactics to nib them in the  bud .
He added that it has become imperative to complement kinetic approach with intelligence gathering that will lead to the arrest before the commission of the crimes.
He said since the criminals live among the people,  the command  placed its personnel across the 21 LGAs with their ears and eyes to the ground in order to arrest criminals before actual commission of the crime and criminality.
According to him, the five day training workshop for the personnel of intelligence and investigation department to building their capacity to meet the present  insecurity ravaging the country.
He assured farmers of adequate security protection as raining season set in, stressing that , the command is fully committed to security of lives and property of citizenry.
” This training is targeted at building the capacity of our Intel.They  are our foot soldiers, and as we are moving to the farming season, there is need for farmers to go to their farmers without fear of attack, so that we can have enough food.
” We have trained the personnel and we charged them to go into the field and perform. We are working hard in line with the renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
” With the number of personnel we have , we are up to the  task of dealing with security threats including providing protection to hard to reach communities.
” Our method is essentially intelligence gathering. We don’t need to be physically present in every where. But , we work with locals to generate credible information that lead to the prevention of crimes. We are making use of everybody and we appeal to the people give us useful information.” He assured
In a remark, the HOD , Intelligence and Investigation department, Deputy Commandant, Peter Garba said the best encomium one could get is to do the best on the job, stressing that the training is crucial to the overall performance of the Department
He added that the lessons learned throughout the five day training would definitely impact on their performances, assuring officers that the training for the next batch has been approved.
He commended Commandant General Prof  Abubakar Audi and commandant Aletan Ebenezer for the training and pledged commitment of his department to the fight against banditry, crime and criminality in the state.
Highlights of the event was the presentation of award to the state commandant, CD Aletan, and some participants.
