Wearing of ID card mandatory for staff, students
Sequel to the unfortunate security breach on Thursday, 11th June, 2026, and the subsequent directive suspending all social and cultural activities on campus, the University Management Committee at its 401st Regular Meeting held on Monday, 15th June, 2026, has directed further security measures as follows:
1. No Student should be allowed into the campus with personal car and motor-bike (Haojue, TVS, or other “rubber-rubber” bikes) until further notice;
2. Tinted vehicles and or any with concealed number plate are not allowed into the campus henceforth;
3. Unregistered cars and motor-bikes are not allowed into the campus henceforth;
4. The main gate is the only entrance and exit from the campus until further notice; other gates are only open for pedestrian movement;
5. The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is to carryout comprehensive registration and identification of commercial motor-cycle riders in conjunctionwith their union leaders. Furthermore, the Dean, Student Affairs, Public Relations Officer and Chief Security Officer are to engage the leaders of commercial motor-cycle riders and to inform them on the directive and the full implementation of speed limit of 35KM on the campus.
6. Management to take further steps to engage the services of solar powered tricycle (Keke) riders to compliment the campus shuttles and transport services with clearly demarcated bus stop;
7. While efforts are ongoing to issue Identity card to all staff and students, it will henceforth be mandatory for staff and students to visibly display their Identity Cards (ID) while on the campus.
8. The Chief Security Officer is directed to produce and issue Vehicle Identification Tally to vehicle owners. Misplacement of the Tally will attract the sum of five thousand (N5,000.00) Naira as fine.
10. Visitors to the campus must be properly identified and checked before entering the campus;
11. The Chief Security Officer, Director of Physical Planning and Director of Works and Maintenance are to identify all illegal routes to the campus for blockage and other security measures.
12. Any Department or Students that violate Management instructions on the Ban on End-of-Examination celebrations will face the penalty of having the examination written on that day canceled. Such examination can only be re-written at the corresponding semester of the next session after the payment of new school fees.
13. Provision of CCTV and other security gadgets at various locations to boost security on the campus is ongoing by the Kogi State Government.
14. Suspension of all unauthorized gathering and or social gatherings by the students remains in force until further notice.
15. Staff with tinted vehicles with their tint permit, should register their vehicles with the Chief Security Officer.
16. Cross body bags are henceforth, not allowed on the campus.
Management urges members of the University Community and other stakeholders to cooperate with the 11 – man committee set up to investigate the remote and immediate causes of the security breach to guide further necessary action.
While Management remain committed to the overall well being of staff, students and other stakeholders on the campus, we appeal to members of the University community for strict compliance of these directives in the best interest of all.
