“Highlights Grassroots Impact of Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide.
A socio-political group, Yagba Progress Defenders, has spotlighted the transformational strides recorded in Yagba East, Yagba West and Mopamuro Federal Constituency under the representation of *Rt. Hon. Elder Leke Abejide.
Addressing a press briefing in Lokoja,on Tuesday , Spokesman, Ayo Emmanuel, Esq., said the engagement was convened “not because of politics, but because of Yagba.”
He noted that whenever genuine progress comes under attack, silence becomes irresponsible.
According to him, for the first time in many decades, the constituency is witnessing representation, empowerment, accessibility, and development that have become a reference point not only within Yagba but across neighbouring constituencies.
He said at the centre of this transformation stands Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, whose impact is evident in communities and whose commitment to service remains unquestionable.
Emmanuel cited the recent approval and distribution of ₦10 million each to 72 communities across Yagba as a clear example of grassroots commitment. “This was not a campaign promise. It was not political rhetoric. It was direct intervention touching real communities and real people,” he stated.
He added that beyond this intervention, Abejide’s initiatives in infrastructure, education, youth support, healthcare, and community development have positively impacted lives across Yagba and extended benefits to neighbouring constituencies.
The Spokesman said the people of Yagba deserve continuity of progress rather than a return to the era of empty promises, and that development, performance, and excellence should be encouraged, not discouraged.
He stressed that the constituency is at a defining moment where the gains already recorded must be consolidated through sustained representation and people-focused interventions.
On democratic processes, Emmanuel noted that the APC primary election that produced Rt. Hon. Abejide as the party’s candidate was conducted in line with the party’s constitution, guidelines, and electoral laws, reflecting the will of members and stakeholders who participated.
He said seeking re-election is a constitutional right available to every qualified Nigerian, and that across the country lawmakers have served multiple terms based on the confidence of their constituents. The determinant of who represents the people, he added, remains the freely expressed will of the electorate through the ballot box.
He recalled that Abejide’s political relevance predated his entry into the APC, having earned the confidence of the people and won elections outside dominant political structures on the strength of performance, accessibility, and trust.
He said the decision to join the APC, came after sustained appeals from youth groups, stakeholders, and party faithful who believed his presence would strengthen the party and deepen development efforts in Yagba.
“Today, he remains one of the strongest political assets available to the APC in the federal constituency, with consistent support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Emmanuel explained that Yagba Progress Defenders believe that development must be protected, progress must be defended, and facts must prevail over falsehood.
He called on all stakeholders to embrace issue-based politics, respect democratic processes, and place the interest of the constituency above personal considerations. “If the people believe that Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide deserves another opportunity to consolidate ongoing projects, deepen existing interventions, and strengthen the foundations already laid for sustainable development, then democracy must allow them to express that choice freely.
“Yagba has moved forward. Yagba must continue to move forward. And together, we shall defend every genuine effort aimed at securing a better future for our people,” he concluded.
