Rosemary, Mayo, Tade – Kabba
A delegation from Federal University Lokoja (FUL), led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gbenga Ibileye, on Wednesday paid a strategic visit to Kogi State University, Kabba, to interact with the University leadership’s handling of its security architecture and exchange ideas on strengthening campus safety.
The visit, which was at the instance of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, is part of ongoing efforts to enhance security across tertiary institutions within the state.
The delegation, led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor S. D. Musa who represented the Vice-Chancellor, was received by the Vice-Chancellor of Kogi State University, Kabba, Professor K.I.T. Eniola, fNSM, FRA. During the meeting, both institutions deliberated on practical measures for improving campus security, including surveillance systems, access control, intelligence gathering and sharing, emergency response mechanisms, and closer collaboration with security agencies.
Speaking during the engagement, Professor Eniola reaffirmed KoSU’s commitment to providing a safe and secure environment conducive to teaching, learning, research, and community service. He commended the prompt intervention and support of the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo-led government, which, he noted, has strengthened the University’s proactive security initiatives and reinforced efforts to safeguard lives and property within and around the campus.
The Vice-Chancellor assured the visiting delegation of KoSU’s readiness to continue collaborating with sister institutions and relevant stakeholders in advancing effective security strategies that promote peace and stability across university campuses.
The meeting later proceeded into a closed-door strategy session during which the Vice-Chancellor and his security team was expected to share aspects of KoSU’s homegrown security framework and operational strategies with the Federal University Lokoja delegation.
