The Executive Director, Journalist Initiative, Alhaji Ibrahim Isa-Amoka, has called on Media owners in the country, from both the private and government to always respect Journalists by paying them reasonable salary that is commensurate with their job.

Isa-Amoka warned them to stop using media practitioners as mere labourers, rather treat them as professionals in their area of callings.

The call was made by the Executive Director, Amoka Journalist Initiative, an NGO that caters for the interest of Journalists worldwide.

The one time NUJ Chairman, Kogi State Council who was speaking during the World Press Day in Lokoja, used the occasion to call on the National body of NUJ to remove the Union from NLC and to stand on its own like other  professional entities like NMA,NBA,ASUU among others.

He noted that this will make the Union to make more progress than her present state where it was lumped with unprofessional bodies

He commended Nigeria Journalists for still coming out as one of the best in the world despite her not too good environment of operation.
