The Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba has graduated a total of 26,160, with 178 students bagging first class degrees in the seventh Combined Convocation and 25th anniversary celebration of the University.
This is just as the president of the students Union Government SUG, Emmanuel Shaibu emerged over all best graduating student of 2024/ 2025 session with 4.88 CGPA in Economics.
Delivering a Convocation press briefing, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Marietu Ohunene ‘Tenuche highlighted the university’s significant progress since 2020, citing improved security, academic discipline, and infrastructure development.
She pointed out that her administration has Introduce 12 new academic programmes, including Applied Geophysics, Cyber Security, and Data Science,
She listed uninterrupted academic calendar, with no strike actions or delayed results as part of the University’s achievements.
She mentioned that a $205,000 ARISE grant won by Dr. Emmanuel Amulabu for Central Laboratory upgrade, Strategic partnerships with Saint Petersburg Mining University, Russia was a remarkable impact made by the 25 year old University.
Prof. ‘Tenuche attributed the university’s success to clear vision, institutional discipline, and unwavering political support from the state government.
The convocation ceremonies she said will feature notable events, including a book presentation, 25th Anniversary Lecture, and Commissioning of projects.
Tenuche, who is the first female vice Chancellor of the 25 year old University assured parents and students that the lapses that led to the suspension of MBBS program have been fully activated with the full accreditation by National University Commission and Dental and Medical Council of Nigeria.
She called on the private developers and spirited Nigerians to partner with the University for construction of more Hostels to house majority of students on the campus for proper monitoring , Evaluation and security.
“With security restored, our administration decisively addressed academic and social misconduct. Examination malpractice, academic fraud, indecent dressing, and unethical practices were addressed heads-on. Class representatives that served as middlemen between students and erring lecturers were eliminated, reinforcing transparency and integrity.
“We redirected student energy toward productive engagement.
“Sporting facilities were revitalized, leading to our emergence as champions of the Higher Institutions Football League in 2022. This shot Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba into limelight in the Comity of Universities as it was the first time a state University was winning the title.
Theatre Arts performances were also strengthened, using creative expressions as a tool for talent development and control of crime and criminality.
“Our administration has significantly transformed the physical outlook of the University. Internal roads there were previously in a state of disrepair have been reconstructed through Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), FERMA interventions, and State Government support. Notable projects include:

Meanwhile, prof Tenuche commended the former Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and incumbent governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the opportunity given her to serve and their massive investment to the University, adding that the host communities have been a pillar of support for the University.
