Members of the kogi state Correspondents Chapel of NUJ have been Salivated with delicious delicacies at the Monday Iftar Ramadan.
The Iftar Ramadan which was sponsored by the Chairman, correspondent chapel, Mr. Segun Demola Salami, brought together both members of correspondents , members of NUJ and members of the NUJ communities.
It was a night of joy and gladness for the attendees who were served with both local and continental delicacies; ranging from Akara and pap, kunu, pounded Yam , debinos and package water of different sizes.
The members who comprised both faiths as Ramadan coincided with Lenten, the Iftar was a reunion and and a rejuvenation of spiritual cleansing for the chapel to attain and revive its lost glory.
Speaking for the motives behind the celebration, the correspondent chapel Chairman and donor, Segun Salami noted that he has been nurturing for a day that he would feed both the Christians and Muslims members of the council.
He said the first day he attended something like this was the day , the former chairman of NUJ and Vice President zone D Comrade Momohjimoh Adeiza hosted the members of the council to the Iftar Ramadan right inside the NUJ premises.
He added that from that day he told himself that he will one day do the same for the members.
He explained that penultimate week, he called Oyibo Salifu of his plan to execute his long time ambition to feed the members at the Iftar, but , he was told that, the former permanent Secretary of the Ministry of information, Mr. Ebenezer Adurodija was hosting that day, saying , he vowed to be the next person.
According to him, ” I must confess, it has been in my mind that I must imitate my Senior colleagues- Adeiza and Adurodija- and to God be the glory it happened today.
” I thank everyone who with short notice was able to attend. I congratulate our Muslims and Christians brothers for the sacrifices during this months of Ramadan and Lenten. This year is spectacular because the two faiths are marking it the same time. And it is my prayers that God answers our prayers.
Earlier, the Vice President of NUJ Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh thank the sponsor for the magnanimity and urge members to emulate the good works of the sponsors.
He said, maintaining the tradition of hosting Iftar, has significantly brought unity , love , peace and togetherness among members of the council and pray that the tradition will continue to prosper in the coming years.
