A leading governorship aspirant in Kogi State on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, has congratulated Muslims in Kogi State and across Nigeria on the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and the celebration of Eid el‑Fitr.
In his Eid message Olayinka described the holy month of Ramadan as a period of spiritual rebirth, sacrifice, discipline, and devotion, urging Muslims to sustain the virtues of patience, love, and generosity which the fasting period represents.
He said: “I heartily congratulate our Muslim brothers and sisters in Kogi State and throughout Nigeria on the grace to witness another Eid-el-Fitr. Ramadan has taught us the values of self-discipline, tolerance, and compassion for one another. As we celebrate, we must continue to uphold these virtues for the progress of our society.”
The ADC gubernatorial aspirant emphasised that the lessons of Ramadan go beyond abstaining from food and drink, noting that the season reminds leaders and citizens alike about the importance of accountability, sincerity of purpose, and service to humanity.
According to him: “Eid is not just a celebration; it is a reminder of our responsibilities to God and to humanity. We must continue to show love to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and work collectively for the development of our dear state and country.”
He also used the occasion to call for prayers for peace, economic stability, and good governance in Nigeria, stressing that national development can only thrive in an atmosphere of unity and mutual respect.
“At this critical time in our national life, I appeal to Nigerians to use this festive period to pray for our leaders and our country. With unity, faith, and collective responsibility, we can overcome our challenges and build a better future for the coming generations,” he added.
The gubernatorial hopeful further encouraged political leaders to embrace people-centred policies that will reduce hardship and improve the living conditions of ordinary citizens, noting that leadership must always be guided by fairness and social justice.
He reiterated by wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful celebration.
“May this Eid bring joy to our homes, peace to our communities, and renewed hope to our nation. Barka da Sallah to all our Muslim faithful. May Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices,” Braimoh stated.
The message has since drawn commendations from political observers and community leaders who say such gestures reflect the importance of religious harmony and inclusive leadership in a diverse society.
