A legal icon, Barrister Usman Osmond Onojah has urged Nigerians at all walks of lives to dedicate, walk with and run with Christ throughout their life times as he is sold out with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Osmond Onojah EsQ gave the sermon at his 70th birthday celebration held at Jubilee Park, Peace Community, Gadumo village in Lokoja on Saturday.
The Septuagenarian, who was elated by the ambush of colleagues and mentee in the Bar, for the hosting, noted that what matters to him is how to propagate the message of Christ and to raise high flyers in the kingdom of God.
He said unlike others who will write books, launch it to generate money to mark their birthdays , his interest to win souls that will help fortify the kingdom of God on the planet earth superseed all considerations.
He described his life as the benevolence and the grace of God who made him to weather the storms of life in the last 70 years.
He said he has all it takes to adulate his maker for taking him steadily through out his seventy year’s life journey and prayed for his guests to reach the mark and beyond.
Barrister Onojah hinted that, the grace of God was sufficient for him as he stood with him from a humble beginning in 1956 in a sleepy town of Ogugu in Olamaboro Local Government Area of kogi state.
He added that he finished his primary education in 1969, completed secondary school 1975, Cambridge moderated GCE 1977 and thereafter gained administration to Ahmodu Bello University Zaria, graduating with distinction in law in 1981, called to Bar in 1982, a feat that can only be the handiwork of God Almighty.
According to him, he started his career life with the then Benue State Ministry of Justice in1983, progressing through the ranks until he retired from kogi state Ministry of Justice as Acting Director Legal Services.1993 to set up his Chambers EL-tolad the same year.
pWhile explaining his early encounter with Christ said , he got born again in 1989 and has remain one of the pastors in Charismatic Renewal Ministries Lokoja.
The legal icon declared that the encounter with Christ fires him to become a preacher of righteousness, minister in marriage Ministry and ardent believer in the power of Jesus Christ and his ardent dependency on the holy spirit, ‘ an anonymous and avid searcher of God.
The legal luminary who
through his Chambers, have groomed,mentored and inspires generations of young lawyers, who are making waves in the profession.
He hinted that among other things in advancing the cause of justice, he has produced over 25 young lawyers who have cut their teeth through his tutelage
He commended those members of the Bar who honoured him with the Initiative of hosting an elaborate birthday for him, and thanked his friends in the Bench and Bar and everyone who took out their times to celebrate with him.
“God will bless you. This seventy years you will all reach, I know that is easy in the name of Jesus Christ.
All of you, those of you who have found this seventy, you will reach more years in the name of Jesus Christ.
I’m happy to see you like this. God bless you. And as you know, God will take you home, saves you, and continues to bless you.
‘You know, when I was organizing this, I wanted it to be very quiet. I like quietness.But the lawyers, they were there, and they didn’t want it. They were the ones that arranged everything.
“You know what some people want to do in their 70th birthdays.They want to do something that people will remember them for. To write books, launch and get money. No, I don’t want that. I want the legacy that will outlive you and outlive me. And that legacy is Jesus Christ. I’m not interested in building castles, I’m not interested in writing books so that people will read. No, I’m interested in telling you, know God, believe in Christ, and live like a Christian. That’s the only thing I’m giving you to live with it.Take it, walk with it, run with it, and it shall be well with your soul” he sermonised.
In a remark, the Secretary of Nigeria Bar Association NBA Lokoja branch, Ekpa F.O described the celebrator as a mentor, a lover of Jesus Christ,, a family man per excellence.
He stated that the legal luminary, was among the very few lawyers who established the Nigeria Bar Association,NBA Lokoja branch, affirmed that he is a family man , a devout Christian, a lover of raising men and women and a proud father of three children and three grand children.
The celebration drew the creme la creme of legal profession, civil servants, families and friends from Ogugu , Dr. Alabi Olatunde, former chief Medical Director CMD of Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja, ,Doctor Simeon Oyigu, pastor Mrs Oyatogun., Barrister Tina Ekele-Tims Ejigah, and host of others.
