The BookNation has paid a courtesy visit to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Jabi, Abuja, as part of its ongoing efforts to establish strategic institutional partnerships and advance its mission of promoting purposeful reading, continuous learning and transformational knowledge.
The BookNation delegation, led by its President, Emmanuel Ibrahim, CTS, arrived at the University premises on 26 August 2026 at about 10:30 AM and was received by Prof. Angela Okpara, University Librarian, who represented the Vice Chancellor, who was unavoidably absent from the meeting.
The formal engagement commenced at exactly 11:00 AM with a prayer, followed by the introduction of representatives of both institutions. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Technology, subsequently joined the meeting and participated in the engagement.
Speaking on behalf of BookNation, President and leader of the delegation, Emmanuel Ibrahim, CTS, presented an overview of BookNation, its vision, mission and objectives. He emphasised the organisation’s commitment to promoting transformational knowledge through advocacy, book curation and book publishing for purposeful reading, community reading culture development, continuous learning, and the translation of knowledge into skills for the transformation of individuals and communities.
BookNation Presents Position Paper to NOUN
A major highlight of the engagement was the formal presentation of the BookNation Position Paper on Proposed Areas of Collaboration with the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).
The Position Paper outlines BookNation’s proposed areas of institutional collaboration with NOUN and provides a framework for further discussions on how both institutions can work together to advance reading, learning, knowledge development and related educational objectives.
Responding on behalf of the University, Prof. Angela Okpara warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed support for BookNation’s vision and objectives. She expressed concern over the declining reading culture in Nigeria and acknowledged the importance of initiatives aimed at reviving reading and learning.
She affirmed NOUN’s willingness to collaborate with BookNation and expressed optimism about developing a mutually beneficial relationship between the two organisations.
The representative of the Registrar also conveyed the University’s appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed NOUN’s interest in working with BookNation. He stated that the University looked forward to developing a meaningful partnership with the organisation and subsequently gave the vote of thanks on behalf of the Vice Chancellor and the University.
As a gesture of appreciation and goodwill, Prof. Angela Okpara, representing the Vice Chancellor, presented a gift to the President and leader of the BookNation delegation.

A Step Towards Institutional Partnership
BookNation considers the visit an important step towards building a structured and mutually beneficial institutional partnership with NOUN.
The University’s positive response and affirmation of its willingness to collaborate, together with the presentation of the Position Paper, provide a strong foundation for further discussions and concrete partnership initiatives.
