The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 1,553 personnel for the forthcoming Kogi State Local Government Election scheduled for Saturday, 17th October, 2026, across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.
The State Commandant, Aletan Olumide Ebenezer, gave the charge while addressing personnel ahead of their deployment, urging them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, impartiality and political neutrality throughout the electoral process.
He further charged Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and Unit Commanders to provide effective leadership and supervision to ensure a peaceful, orderly and hitch-free election across their respective areas of responsibility.
Commandant Aletan emphasized that the credibility and public image of the Corps depend largely on the conduct of its personnel, particularly during sensitive national assignments such as elections. He therefore directed all deployed personnel to remain apolitical, impartial and law-abiding while discharging their statutory responsibilities.
The State Commandant urged the officers to maintain a high level of vigilance and situational awareness, admonishing them to “see more and talk less” while carrying out their duties with decorum, civility and respect for fundamental human rights.
He also charged them to demonstrate maturity, teamwork and a positive disposition throughout the operation, warning that any conduct capable of bringing the Corps into disrepute would not be tolerated.
In line with the policies and strategic priorities of the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, particularly his commitment to personnel welfare, Commandant Aletan assured the deployed personnel of the Command’s continued commitment to their welfare and well-being throughout the assignment.
Furthermore, he directed personnel to ensure the effective protection of all Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across the State, stressing that the protection of such assets remains one of the core mandates of the Corps. He warned against negligence, compromise or any action that could undermine the security of these vital national assets.
The State Commandant also emphasized strict compliance with the established Rules of Engagement, urging personnel to exercise restraint, discipline and sound professional judgment in all operational circumstances.
He concluded by seeking divine protection and guidance for all personnel, expressing confidence that their professionalism, dedication and cooperation would contribute to a peaceful, credible and successful electoral process across Kogi State.
