The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has approved the disbursement of N316m as for kogi state origin study at Nigeria Law Schools and bursary allowance for 8,750 cleared undergraduate students of Kogi State origin.
This is just as the Governor gave a cheque of five million naira as a complementary scholarship award to Miss Favour Oluwatimilehin Adebayo for winning the European Union Erasmus scholarship to study in Poland
Kogi state commissioner for education, Mr Wemi Jones made the disclosure in his office, Lokoja on Friday while presenting a cheque of five million naira complementary scholarship award to Mr Moses Adebayo,, the father of the awardee .
According to the commissioner, 201 students of the Kogi origin at the various law schools will be supported with the sum of N300,000 each to enable them complete their law academic programmes.
He noted that a total number of 201 law student from the State were also cleared for the Law bursary at a total sum of sixty million three hundred thousand naira only
“The complementary scholarship award is to support
Miss Favour Oluwatimilehin Adebayo an entrepreneurship student of Nasarawa State University who was awarded European Union Erasmus scholarship to enable her complete her course of study hitch free” the Commissioner said.
The commissioner who commended the Government for his exploit in Advancement of education in the state hinted that the government has approved #8bn for the construction of faculty of science block and female and male hostels.
In his remark, the Executive Chairman, Kogi State Scholarship Board Mr Afolabi Joseph-Raji, said the State Government is committed through the Board to ensure that every students of Kogi origin attain academic success and become responsible in the society.
He said the state government is committed to supporting Kogi students, noting that the scholarship is to complement the tuition, accommodation fee and feeding of Miss Favour.
In his vote of thanks , Mr Moses Adebayo , the father of miss Favour commended the state Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Commissioner for education for prioritizing education in the state, applauding the former governor Yahaya Bello for picking Ododo as his successor.
