The insecurity in kogi state has become unbearable as a retired Army Major and Pastor, Joe Ajayi, was abducted from his house in Odo-Ape, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
Ajayi, a former chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kabba-Bunu chapter was kidnapped around 11:30pm on Wednesday.
The gunmen were said to have fired shots for over an hour before whisking the retired army officer away to an unknown destination, disclosed a source within the community.
This is just as a first class chief ,James Dada was abducted from his residence, with #100M ransom hanging on him for his release.
The source expressed concern about the deteriorating state of Major Ajayi’s health, compounded by his advanced age, and the potential risks this may pose during his captivity.
The incident has sparked concern in the community, with many calling for increased security measures.
The kidnapping case follows a recent outcry by the Okun Development Association (ODA), which highlighted the alarming rate of insecurity in Okunland.
The ODA specifically mentioned the kidnapping of a first-class traditional ruler in Okoloke, Yagba West Local Government Area, and called on the federal and state governments, as well as security agencies, to take action to address the situation.
The ODA’s concerns about insecurity in the area were underscored by these latest incidents, which have left the community in shock and fear.
Early in the year, a council member was abducted from his house, three days later, three other persons were kidnapped along with a child in their farm in same community.
