Kidnappers on Rampage in kogi kill 2, abduct 13.

The dare devil kidnappers have killed two persons  and abducted thirteen others in series of coordinated operations across Kogi East  Local Government Areas of state.
The attacks which took place on Wednesday 4th of March, 2026 and early morning on the following day left two people dead.
According to the locals, traders from Kogi East heading to  Obolo-Affor market in Enugu state,  in a commercial bus were  intercepted and herded into the forest.
Earlier on Wednesday, some kidnappers invaded Okabo community in Ofu local government of Kogi state, one person was shot dead and another person and a minor were abducted.
Another groups of gunmen invaded  Ogbakpedo and Okabo along Itobe-Anyigba road and intercepted two commercial vehicles and evacuated all the occupants including two pregnant women  into the bush.
The eye witness account noted that while marching the victims into the bush, the kidnappers sorted out the two pregnant women and set them free, and  made away with eight victims.
Reacting to the development, the leadership of the Kogi East Neighborhood Watch (KENW) said they are overwhelmed with the incessant cases of kidnapping in the last two weeks. “We have had cases of kidnappings coming almost on daily bases, we are getting overwhelmed, we need reinforcement to comb the forest and set the victims free. We can only do this with support of the state government”.
In a bid to curtail the menace, the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area in Kogi, Mr. Tosin Olokun, has imposed an indefinite dusk-to-dawn curfew across communities in his area.
However, calls and text messages to the force public relations officer ASP Oyiza Afusat was not responded to as of the time of filling this report
