Idrinana Hotel, Lokoja wore a spectacle of colours, music, and celebration on Saturday evening as dignitaries, political leaders, traditional rulers, captains of industry, and hundreds of well-wishers thronged the grand wedding reception of APC senatorial aspirant, Dr. Tim Nda Diche, Ph.D., and his bride, Zainab Lilichi Abu.
The reception followed the couple’s Wedding Fatiha and traditional rites held earlier at Adankolo New Layout. By 6pm, the hotel’s banquet hall had been transformed into a royal arena, with elegant décor blending white, gold, and touches of Kogi cultural motifs.
The couple made a grand entrance amid cheers, applause, and chants of “Sai Tim! Sai Tim!” from supporters. Dr. Nda Diche, dressed in a classic milk colour agbada, and Zainab, radiant in an embellished white and gold gown with matching gele, waved to guests as they took their seats on the high table.
The atmosphere was electric as top musicians and the Bassan’ge and Igala cultural troupe mounted the stage. Their energetic traditional dance, drums, and songs celebrating love and unity kept guests on their feet throughout the night. Several dignitaries, including the Maigari of Lokoja, HRH Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir, Markarfi IV, and other traditional rulers, were physically present, a moment that drew loud ovation.
In goodwill messages, speakers described the union as timely and blessed. A family representative prayed that the marriage would be built on love, patience, and mutual respect. “Today, two families have become one. We pray for peace, prosperity, and children that will make Kogi proud,” he said.
The high point came when Dr. Nda Diche and Zainab cut the multi-tiered wedding cake to the admiration of guests, followed by the ceremonial toast. Ushers served guests with a variety of local and continental dishes, while soft music played in the background.
Among those present were APC chieftains, serving and former government appointees, present commissioner for Commerce and Industry, federal and state lawmakers, business moguls, youth leaders, and women groups who came from Abuja, Nasarawa, Niger, and other states to celebrate with the couple.
Guests described the event as “the wedding of the year” in Lokoja, commending both families for their hospitality and for blending tradition with modern elegance.
