The All Progressives Congress (APC) Lokoja chapter in Kogi State has reportedly taken disciplinary action against three ward chairmen and other party members for attending a town hall meeting* win with Tinubu “organized by Senator Sunday Steve Karimi.
The affected party officials were handed over their suspension letters on Tuesday.
The development has generated fresh controversy within the party, particularly in Kogi West Senatorial District, where political activities ahead of the 2027 elections have intensified.
Sources familiar with the development said the affected ward chairmen were accused of violating party directives by identifying with the Senator’s town hall meeting.
The action has, however, raised questions among party members, with some arguing that elected and appointed party officials should be allowed to participate in political engagements involving their representatives, while others insist that party directives must be respected to maintain discipline and unity.
Senator Karimi, who represents Kogi West in the National Assembly, has in recent months intensified consultations with constituents through town hall meetings and other engagements, using the platforms to discuss his legislative activities and solicit feedback from the people.
