The Executive Director of Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolutions CHRCR, Comrade Abdul Idris Miliki has charged kogi state Government to ensure that peace and security is guaranteed throughout the electioneering process.
CHRCR made the call on Monday while marking the day in Lokoja.
Miliki noted that as the world celebrates, the international day of peace, let there be peace in the country even as the campaign toward the Kogi State local government election slated for 17 October 2026, the presidential, ,National Assembly schedule for 16 January 2027 , the governor and the state Assembly put on the 6 February also 2027.
He said Elections is a process and not a one day events, political party , their candidates, their supporters , the voters across the country should understand that elections is a contest and not do or die affairs.
” We call on the Nigerian youths in particular not to allow themselves to be use as agents of destructions as the youth can also be leaders of today and tomorrow.
“we call on Independent Electoral commission (Inec, in Kogi State to put every machinery in place to enhance peaceful atmosphere that can guarantee peaceful elections and by extension a peaceful country.
” we call on all security Agencies particularly the Nigerian police to conduct mapping to identify flash points and trigger zones for effective collaboration among all stakeholders. We equally called on the international development partners to support genuine civil society Organizations to continue to engage the citizens for peaceful elections in Nigeria.
“As the the 2027 elections in Nigeria take shapes we must all know and understand that it must be through ballots and not bullets. Happy international of peace.
