The death has been announced of Chief. Awawo Uboyi Inaju (Mrs.), the Onekhakha of Weppa Wanno Kingdom, Etsako East LGA, Edo State, who passed on to glory on 21st November 2021, at the ripe old age of 92.
Late Chief Awawo Uboyi Inaju (Mrs) was born in 1929, died in year 2021, at the age of 92 years, is the first child of Mr. and Mrs. Opawa & Iwochi of Ivioghe Village of Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.
Late Chief Awawo Uboyi Inaju (Mrs) is survived by 6 children, 3 male and 3 females, with many grandchildren and great grand Children.
According to a family statement issued to Newsmen and signed by her son Inaju O Inaju, details of the burial ceremony released shows that the Wake-keep will hold on 7th January, 2022 at Chief Inaju U Inaju compound, GRA extension, Lokoja, Kogi State.
According to the statement, a convoy will depart Lokoja, Capital of Kogi State for her final resting place besides her late husband at Iyano village, in Ibaji LGA of Kogi State on 8th January 2022.
Late Chief Awawo Uboyi Inaju (Mrs) described as a very friendly, humane and sincere woman who never asked for much of anyone or out of Life, but readily went the extra miles when necessary, was always in support of people she met on her journey through life. This is the testimony according to her Son Inaju O Inaju.
“I really do not want much out of life, I just want to be happy, see people around me happy and share my happiness with everyone around me” Awawo it would be recalled stated this in 1994 at Aganebode while addressing her guests and those who conferred the chieftaincy title, “Onekhakha,” a traditional title that women of Weppa Wanno Kingdom take.
Mama loves people, prays to always find people in their best moments. Never one to pray to see anyone in their moment of weakness. For Mama the cup is always half full, she sees only the best in people and every situation. She is of the conviction that every good thing you do for others will come back, if not to you then to your children, in many folds hence her unending willingness to always do good by all, especially the downtrodden and the needy. Mama believed that no matter how bad a situation is, if you look deep and hard enough, if you are willing to right the situation, you will find a way out. For Mama no situation was beyond redemption, all it takes is patience, understanding and the willingness to understand the other party’s point of view.
Chief Onekhakha was an astute woman who was always empathic, smiled through the most difficult of situations, gave people the benefit of doubt, cared for everyone she came across, a trait her children have mastered. People took advantage of Mama in many ways, but she always had kind words for them, and she will always try to see the brighter side of things. Mama always advised her children and anyone who cares to listen to show love and understanding to everyone they come across in life without expecting anything in return. She espoused the believe that if you don’t expect anything from people then people cannot disappoint you.
She was that selfless in her world view and this infectious positive attitude is something she hoped her children have imbibed. Mom will be sorely missed by those she left behind.
